Accessories and measurement systems

For the rheometers and viscometers from Reologica Instruments AB
an extensive range of accessories and measurement systems is available
to meet the requirements encountered in the rheological characterization of
your samples. From solvents to solids virtually every type of material can be
measured.

High and low temperatures
The different accessories cover a temperature range from -180 C to +1000 C.

Extended Temperature Cell (ETC)
The ETC accessory allows measurements in cone, plate parallel plate and disposal plates over the temperature range -180 to 600C. Heating and cooling rates of 20C/min. are possible in a static environment. Thermal expansion of the cell, measuring system and sample is compensated for automatically. For environmentally sensitive samples, the ETC is equipped with an inert gas inlet.

Heated Couette Cell (CCE)

The CCE accessory extends the temperature range for
concentric cylinders to -100 to 1000C  with heating and cooling rates to  20C/min. A wide range of couette sizes are available, as well as custom made tooling for special applications, and disposal cups for quick sample
exchange. To extend the measuring range of the CCE
further, cone and plate and parallel plates geometric are available.
Sealed Cell

The Sealed Cell (patented) allows full dynamic
oscillatory and viscometric measurements on
volatile samples in a controlled environment.
The cell is pressurized  by a non  contacting air-
bearing,  with  cell pressures to 7 bar.  Temperature
range for the Sealed Cell is -10 to 350C, the upper
limit depends on the vapor pressure of the  sample of interest. The Sealed Cell can also be equipped with
parallel plate measuring geometries for more viscous
samples.
High Pressure Cell

The Pressure Cell allows measurements on samples
containing volatile components and pressure induced
materials changes to 100 bar. The Pressure Cell is
hermetically sealed, and driven by a magnetic coupling.
Temperature range is -10 to 350C, the upper limit
depends on the sample internal pressure.
High Pressure Cell for
StressTech and ViscoTech

The High Pressure Cell for StressTech rheometer
and ViscoTech viscometer is used for studying
rheological properties for samples under pressurized
and/or increased temperature conditions. The Cell
offers full viscometry and limited oscillatory capabilities.
Applications
The oil industry is studying processes under high
pressures, like drilling mud performance, polymer
solution addition angle formation. Further interest is
the crude oil transport at low temperatures and wax precipitation under different solids content,
temperature and pressure. The Cell can also be as a miniature polymerization reactor.

Specification

Pressure interval: 0 to 1200 bar
UV Cell

The UV cell is used to monitor changes in material
properties as a result of exposure to ultraviolet or
other frequency light. The cell has a temperature
range from -150C to 400C. The innovative design allows the plates to be easily removed to facilitate working
with vitrified samples.
Electro-rheological Cell (ER)

The ER Cell allows measurements where an electric field is applied across the sample. The ER Cell is available for both parallel plate, cone and plate, and couette measuring systems. The filed strength can be varied up to 3 KV/mm.
Temperature range is -20 to 200
oC.
Fiber/Film Tension Cell

The Tension Cell allows for measurements on thin films
and fibers in the temperature range -180 to 600C.
Measurement of Young's modulus, glass transition (Tg), secondary transitions, creep/recovery, and shortening can be performed over the temperature range specified.
Peltier Temperature Cell

The Peltier Cell accessory measurements parallel plate
over a wide temperature range. Heating and cooling
rates of 60C/min are possible.
Water Absorption Cell

This cell allows the measurement of the swelling rate
and of rheological properties of water absorption
polymers.

RHEOPOLYMER Cell

The RHEOPOLYM@ Temperature Cell shown to the left
is a convectively heated temperature cell for testing
samples at elevated temperatures in cone/plate,
parallel plate, film fixture, or rectangular torsion
configurations. The cell operates across the
temperature range from ambient to 600
°C, and is
extendable to –60
°C using an optional air chiller or to
-180
°C with optional Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) Accessory.

Optical Microcopy Cell (OMC)

The optical microscope and the digital
video camera allow you to observe the
structural variations under shear and
oscillation.
Data, video sequences and images can
be visualized on-line or stored
in various formats for later evaluation
and analysis.

Small Angle Light Scattering System

The SALS system setup is used to study
flow-induced structural changes and rheological
data under shear and oscillation.
Data, video sequences and images can be
visualized on-line or stored in various formats for
later evaluation and analysis.
